Round decimal text exactly
Enter a plain decimal number and select the number of places to keep. This tool uses integer arithmetic on the digits rather than converting your value to a binary floating-point number. For example, 1.005 rounded to two places with the nearest rule becomes 1.01.
Which rounding rule should I choose?
Nearest chooses the closest result and sends exact ties away from zero: -1.005 becomes -1.01. Floor always moves toward negative infinity, ceiling toward positive infinity, and truncation removes extra digits toward zero. At two places, -1.009 becomes -1.01 with floor and -1.00 with ceiling or truncation.
Supported input and output
Use up to 1,000 digits, an optional sign, and a decimal point. Scientific notation and grouping commas are not accepted. Choose 0 to 100 decimal places. Output includes trailing zeros to show the requested precision; negative zero is normalized to zero.
