TSV Row and Column Transposer

Transpose tab-separated text by turning rows into columns. Paste a spreadsheet range and copy the transposed TSV back into your spreadsheet.

How to transpose a pasted table

Copy a rectangular range from your spreadsheet and paste it above. Each tab separates a cell and each line separates a row. The first row becomes the first column. Copy the result and paste it into a spreadsheet.

Uneven rows and empty cells

Padding fills missing cells with empty strings. Disable padding to reject uneven rows. Trailing tabs preserve empty cells. One final line ending is treated as a table terminator; additional blank lines represent empty rows. Spaces within cells are preserved.

Plain TSV limitations

This tool handles plain tab-separated text, not CSV or quoted multiline cells. Quotes are treated literally. Output uses LF line endings. Input is limited to 200,000 characters and the padded table to 50,000 cells. Spreadsheet formulas are preserved as text here; your spreadsheet may evaluate them when pasted.
