How to convert storage units
- Enter a nonnegative amount followed by a unit, for example 1.5 GiB.
- Read the equivalents in bytes and eight decimal or binary units.
- Copy the complete conversion table.
GB and GiB mean different sizes
Decimal units use powers of 1000: 1 GB is 1,000,000,000 bytes. Binary units use powers of 1024: 1 GiB is 1,073,741,824 bytes. For example, 1.5 GiB equals 1.610612736 GB. This difference helps explain storage capacity labels.
Supported input and precision
Use B, kB, MB, GB, TB, KiB, MiB, GiB, or TiB. Unit matching is case-insensitive; every unit represents bytes, not bits. Enter up to 100 integer digits and 12 decimal places, without commas or exponent notation. Fractional bytes are allowed for mathematical conversions. Results show up to 12 decimal places; an ellipsis means further digits were truncated, not rounded. Integer arithmetic keeps the underlying conversion exact.
