Number Statistics Calculator

Calculate count, sum, mean, median, minimum, maximum, and population or sample standard deviation from a list of numbers.

How to calculate list statistics

Paste numbers separated by commas, whitespace, or semicolons. Choose population statistics for the complete group, or sample statistics for an estimate based on part of a group. Results update automatically.

What the results mean

The mean is the sum divided by the count. The median is the middle sorted value, or the average of the two middle values. Variance averages squared distances from the mean. Standard deviation is its square root. Sample variance divides by n minus one and needs at least two values.

Supported numbers and precision

Signed decimals and scientific notation such as -2.5 and 1e3 are supported. Commas separate values: enter 1000 rather than 1,000 for one thousand. Use a period as the decimal separator. Up to 10,000 numbers, 200,000 input characters, and magnitudes up to 1e100 are supported. Results use browser floating-point arithmetic and display up to 12 significant digits; tiny values may underflow to zero. This tool does not provide exact decimal arithmetic.
