How to convert a temperature
Enter a number and choose its unit. All three temperature scales update immediately. Negative numbers and scientific notation such as 1e3 are accepted. Copy the report for your notes.
Conversion formulas
Fahrenheit = Celsius × 9/5 + 32. Kelvin = Celsius + 273.15. To convert Fahrenheit to Celsius, subtract 32 and multiply by 5/9.
Absolute zero and rounding
Temperatures below −273.15 °C, −459.67 °F, or 0 K are rejected. This tool converts temperature readings, not temperature differences. Results use up to 12 significant digits and standard floating-point arithmetic; small rounding differences are possible. Inputs are limited to 100 characters and output magnitudes to 1015.
